Natural Environment Research Council Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH)

 

The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (NERC) is a non-departmental government body, and a component Research Centre of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). As the UK's Centre of Excellence in the terrestrial and freshwater environmental sciences NERC’s 450 staff has specialist skills across a wide range of environmental disciplines (air, water, soil and ecosystems). With an annual turnover of approx €50million/yr, NERC research is aimed at improving understanding the environment and the processes that underlie the Earth's support systems from global to the genetic scale. NERC is particularly interested in the impacts of human activity on the natural environments, including the effects of mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
